Board Member Bio

Celeste R. Parker, SLP.D., CCC-SLP

 

Dr. Celeste R. Parker was appointed to the Board by Governor John Bel Edwards on October 4, 2022. She currently serves as the Speech-Language Pathologist Evaluator of Collegiate Academies in New Orleans.  Prior to joining Collegiate Academies, she served as the Director of Clinical Education in the Department of Speech Pathology at Xavier University of Louisiana.  She has also previously served as an Assistant Professor and Interim Clinical Coordinator at Jackson State University, as well as serving as the Interim Clinical Coordinator for three years and the advisor for the student organization for four years.  Dr. Parker has also served as an Assistant Professor at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA for two years.  Dr. Parker received a B.S. degree in Speech Pathology/Audiology from Xavier University of Louisiana, a M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Northern Iowa and a Doctorate of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP.D.) from Nova Southeastern University.  She has been a licensed and certified Speech-Language Pathologist for 16 years.  She has worked in several settings including elementary school, middle school, high school, hospital, skilled nursing, private practice, and academia.  Dr. Parker has served two years as a member of the Board of Directors for the Louisiana Speech Language Hearing Association. She has published and presented research in the areas of Clinical Supervision, Multicultural Issues, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), and Ventilator Dependent Patients.  Her research interests in the field of Speech-Language Pathology include Clinical Supervision, Multicultural Issues, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), and Autism.
